米Google社は現地時間7月20日、同社の子会社である米Google Energy社が米NextEra Energy Resources社と、風力発電による電力を今後20年間で114メガワット購入する契約を結んだと同社公式ブログで発表した。
同社の「Reducing our carbon footprint with the direct purchase of renewable energy」というエントリによれば、20年間あらかじめ定められた価格で、アイオワ州の米NextEra Energy Resources社から114メガワットの風力発電による電力購入するという。同社では購入した電力を同社のデータセンターに利用するという。
